Science Communication on Wheels- 2000km covered in the first leg
“Reverberation: We are Science Communicators”, an initiative of NEZINE to celebrate science communication and motivate students, youth and science enthusiasts to become science communicators, travelled to places like Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Jorhat, Duliajan and Dibrugarh in Assam covering a total distance of nearly 2000-km in the maiden leg of the festival segment “Science Communication on Wheels.”
In the first leg of “Science Communication on Wheels”, science communicators, resource persons travelled for eight consecutive days from October 20 till October 27 in a van that carried a mobile exhibition of science communication materials and science equipments to these places. They delivered talks, conducted workshops for development of skills for science communication on digital platforms and science photography in various educational institutions. The festival, including the segment "Science Communication on Wheels" has been organised with the support of the Assam Skill Development Mission, Oil India Limited and Numaligarh Refinery Limited.The festival, including the segment "Science Communication on Wheels" has been organised with the support of the Assam Skill Development Mission, Oil India Limited and Numaligarh Refinery Limited.
The institutions covered in this leg included Tezpur University in Tezpur (Oct 20), North Lakhimpur (Autonomous) College in Lakhmpur (Oct 21 ), Morigaon Jatiya Vidyalaya in Marigoan ( Oct 23), Jorhat Government Girls’ Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School in Jorhat (Oct 24), Delhi Public School, and OIL India Higher Secondary School in Duliajan ( Oct 25) and Dibrugarh University (Oct 26).
Edugenie, a knowledge partner of NEZINE for the festival, conducted “WOW Math”, “WOW Science” shows and orgnaised Puzzlothon for school students. Students visited the “Science Communication on Wheels” van to have a glimpse of the campaign materials of Aaranyak, another knowledge partner for the festival, displayed in the van and understand how they can take help of different campaign materials for science communication among the masses. Documentaries by Aaranyak and Oil India Limited were screened as part of the Science Communication on Wheels programme. A public awarness campaign banner of CoRBiE (Conservation & Research of Bio-Diversity and Environment ) containing information on a few snake species found in Assam drew attention of the students, teachers and science enthusiasts who visited the Science Communication on Wheels van.

The fortnight long festival has been organised in collaboration with the Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Tezpur University, the Centre for Studies in Journalism and Mass Communication, Dibrugarh University, Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Mass Communication & Journalism, Cotton University, Department of Mass Communication, North Lakhimpur (Autonomous), Assam School of Journalism and Ellora Vigyan Mancha. NEZINE plans to cover more places and reach out to more students, youth and science enthusiasts in the coming days.
