Sangtam, a colourful Naga tribe of Nagaland celebrate their Mongmong festival in the first week of September. Mongmong, which means Togetherness Forever, is the community pre-harvest festival of Sangtam Nagas, living in Tuensang and Kiphere districts. The festival is celebrated seek blessings of their God for good health and prosperous harvest after a year- long hard work. The festival is celebrated with merrymaking accompanied by traditional songs and dances. On September 3 Nagaland’s commercial hub Dimapur also witnessed celebration of Mongmong, which is traditionally a six-day festival with each day having its own meaning and significance.
