Namghar is a unique prayer house in Assam in which apart from daily prayer services, villagers also get together for organising various cultural programmes and practice sessions of singing, dancing and drama throughout the year. Through these programmes and practice sessions, the villagers have kept preserved the rich cultural traditions initiated by Srimanta Sankardeva and his chief disciple Madhavdeva.

The sounds of the cymbals, the percussion instrument, khol, flute make the entire ambience soothing to the ears. At the same time, the rhythmic movements of the performers turn the prayer house into a cultural arena.

This is the second episode of a special podcast on Namghar, a unique institution of Assam. produced and hosted by Abhilash Bapanasha, a student of M. A. (3rd Semester) at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Tezpur University as part of his Summer Internship at NEZINE.
